Walk-Up Evangelism

A recap from Richard Song:

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I’m found, was blind but now I see.

These were the words a group of us sang as we ended our first walk-up session on Sunday. These words reminded us that we all were once dead in our trespasses, but by the grace of God, were made alive in Christ. This amazing reality is the ultimate truth, and there are countless people in Parramatta who have yet to hear it.

I’ll be honest, on Sunday, most of us were nervous and fearful of going out, but by God’s grace, we went out anyway, in the hopes that the Lord might use us mightily in our weakness. And though the fears remained, it propelled our souls to pray as we went out.

As we did, the Holy Spirit opened up opportunities for us to reach out and speak with some people who were willing to listen (and also with some who weren’t!). However, we found much assurance in the reality that it is ‘… only God who gives growth.’ (1 Corinthians 3:6)

It is our prayer that we might continue to entrust all our missional endeavours to God alone, and as we do, that He would provide the boldness to step out in faith and continue to share the good news with those whom we encounter.

Walk up will continue to occur each Sunday leading up to Easter (31 March). We would love for you to come and join us!

Date: Every Sunday leading up to Easter
Time: 2-3PM
Location: Doyle Park (12 Buller St, North Parramatta NSW 2151)

Please speak to Richard Song (richard@sgparra.org.au) if you are interested.

SG Parra: Kids Spot

It is our hope that this will help parents in their efforts to engage their children in conversations about their learning at SG Kids, to expound upon and apply that learning in their own homes, and perhaps even to prepare their child before Sunday for the story that will be taught.

If you're not a parent, I encourage you to check out the SG Kids Spot each week. It may be a handy piece of background knowledge to spark up a conversation after church with one of our children. They love chatting to the adults of our church and it would be of great benefit for them to see you take an interest in what they're learning about in kids church.

May this weekly, small, colourful square be a blessing to you as you carry out God's calling to teach His Word to the next generation.

The Fear of God

On Sunday we looked at ‘The Justification of God’ and how He is the most significant and important being in the universe and how his glory matters most, even in Jesus’ death on the cross. See the sermon here from Romans 3:25-26.

I wanted to share this quote from Pastor/Scholar Sinclair Ferguson about the Fear of God as I believe it helps communicate how we are to stand in awe of our God:

“True fear of God almost defies definition, because it is really a synonym for the heartfelt worship of God for who and what He is. It is at one and the same time (1) a consciousness of being in the presence of True Greatness and Majesty; (2) a thrilling sense of privilege; (3) an overflow of respect and admiration; and perhaps supremely, (4) a sense that His opinion about my life is the only thing that matters. To someone who fears God, His fatherly approval means everything, and the loss of it is the greatest of all griefs. To fear God is to have a heart that is sensitive to both His God-ness and His graciousness.” Sinclair Ferguson

May we be a people who are in heartfelt awe and awareness of God’s being and majesty and overflowing with gratefulness because of His love for us!

G2G Starts Back This Friday

We will be having our first G2G gathering of the year at our new time: 6-8PM, Friday 8 March! It will be held at 27 Iron Street, North Parramatta. We are pumped for another year of discipleship and fun with the youth of SG Parra!

We are kicking things off with a Parent Participation week, so we would love you to join us for a training night as you drop your children off for the evening. We are hoping to offer sibling-minding options in the future to alleviate some child-minding needs for parents, so watch this space!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Music Team Night - 12th March

Music Team Night is coming on 12 March, 7:30pm at 27 Iron Street, North Parramatta.

The night is for all those currently in the Band or PA Team, and anyone interested in joining either team, we would love to see you there!

We are going to:
1. Spend time in worship
2. Be reminded of what God's purposes are for singing, and
3. Learn how to use in-ear monitoring.

The first two reasons are reason enough to come, but no doubt for both the Band and PA Team you will not want to miss the introduction to in-ear monitoring.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Life Groups are On This Week

Life Groups are on this week!

Life Groups are so vital for us as a Church as they allow us to take the joy of Sunday and work out in smaller communities where we can know each other more deeply and help each other out more personally. We hope that this time together with your group blesses you!

Your LG leaders will send you all the information you need for this week.
