Can you help with some bookkeeping tasks?

Hey Church,

Do you perhaps have a couple of hours this week or the next to assist with some bookkeeping tasks?

No accounting qualifications required, just the ability to scan a heap of receipts and load them up to our Finance system.

If you can serve in this capacity, we would greatly appreciate your assistance. If this is you, please contact Richard - richard@sgparra.org.au

Thanks :)

Book Club - Missions

At our Church family meeting a month a go, I mentioned that we would go back to the basics of why we mission.

So the question I have for you is… Why do we need to mission? If God is in control of everything, why cant we just sit back and not bother?

This is one of the many questions we hope to unpack as we start (an optional but highly recommended) book club:

  • Who: You’re all invited

  • What: Book club - Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God (J.I Packer)

  • When: Sunday nights, from 8pm - 9pm starting 2nd Oct - 23rd Oct (4 week)

  • Where: Zoom

And for those who are saying - I don’t read, here’s an excerpt from a book called “Lit” by Tony Reinke:

“Perhaps you love to read. You get the same feeling from a new stack of books as you get from looking at a warm stack of glazed donuts. Maybe not. For most, reading a book is like trying to drink down a huge vitamin. You know you need to read - you’ll be healthier for it - but everything within you refuses to swallow!”

Well, I exhort you church - join us. It will be good for you :)

Email richard@sgparra.org.au to sign up if you are keen and I can send you the Zoom link and order a book for you.

This week the Song’s life group will be providing ‘Burgers and Chips’ for lunch at church after the service, so stick around for all who are keen. There will be GF and Veggie options!

The Burgers are better at… Sovereign Grace!

'Sunday Nights' Starts This Week

Join us for three Sunday Nights in September as we gather for teaching on tough topics. This is a trial run to experiment with adding some attentional teaching slots into the life of our church. My conviction is that we need more teaching about God and not less going forward!

These are optional, there’ll be no kids program but kids are welcome (NB: sensitive topics etc.). Hopefully these will be useful and will help us to know whether this is something we should do on a more regular basis!

When: 11th, 18th, 25th Sept

Time: ***CHANGED*** 5pm Toasties // 6pm Service

Where: Iron Street

Who: This is an open invite. Invite friends, neighbours, seekers. The primary target will be the church but I will develop the time with seekers and skeptics in view.

Dinner: Make your own Toasties from 5pm

Topics: “Love Is Love”, “Transgender Women Are Women”, “Women’s Rights are Human Rights”. These themes will be developed from the book ‘Secular Creed’ by Rebecca Mclaughlin
Structure: Talk + Discussion Time + QnA

Help: If you’d like to help in anyway (PA, Slides, Toasties, Lead a Song), please let me know.
