Making Sense of God - Tonight!

Making Sense of God is a monthly series of panel discussion nights with live Q&A looking at the aspects of Christian life that people in 2020 find difficult to understand. On Tuesday 1st of December Riley & Brendan will be taking a look at the issue of suffering.

The Bible teaches that God is all knowing, all powerful and all loving at the same time. Yet how can that be possible when so much suffering exists in the world??

Everyone is welcome to join but we’re also hoping that multiple people might be able to host small house parties where non-Christian friends can come to have their questions engaged with in a non-confrontational way.

Back to Tara!
back to tara

As we prepare to head to Tara this week, here are few notes:

  1. We will be hosting the service outside under the shelter. This is so that we can sing corporately!

  2. Come ready to sing! we have been passive participants since our last service on March 15, so prepare your heart, warm up your vocal chords and fall in line with the Psalmist:

    Psa. 95:1    Oh come, let us sing to the LORD;

let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!

    2 Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;

let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!

  3. If you would like to sing, please bring a mask (as per NSW COVID guidelines).

  4. Kids will be in the hall, with the Air Con!

  5. Bring a water bottle!

  6. Invite someone! this is true every week but a change is always a good opportunity to invite again!

For those who are new, Tara is an Anglican Girls School in North Parramatta, it is the venue we launched our church in but we lost access to the site during the COVID lockdowns and never were allowed back in, until now! You can find the address here

Let’s be thanking God for this and let’s be preparing our hearts for change, yet again!

Sunday Recap: Religious Hypocrisy - Matthew 6:1-17
IMG_0206.jpeg

Sunday was an eventful day! We had Richard Song preach his first sermon, and from all accounts he did a great job! Thank you Richard for serving us in this way! Unfortunately, i missed the sermon due to the fire in our street. Gratefully, no one was hurt, though a house was burned and badly damaged. In the process of fighting the fires, I was given a great opportunity to meet all my neighbours, host them in our front lawn, feed them and serve them! It was a real privilege and great opportunity. We also had our last Sunday at JBrewers, with the added bonus of being able to use the office upstairs for kids work!

Next week we are back at Tara AND we get to sing! So come with a mask and ready to praise corporately for the first time since March 15!

Sunday's Call To Worship - Call and Response
mountain

This Sunday we are going to try something new again. Last week, we read a corporate confession as an expression of James 5:16 (“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another…")

This week we are going to read Psalm 24 as our Call to Worship and we are going to do it via a Call and Response. So…I will read the parts NOT in bold and you will speak aloud the parts in BOLD, basically answering the questions of the passage! The hope is that we will find new ways of worshipping the Lord with our voice.

Psa. 24:1    The earth is the LORD’s and the fullness thereof,

the world and those who dwell therein,

2 for he has founded it upon the seas

and established it upon the rivers.

3    Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD?

And who shall stand in his holy place?

4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,

who does not lift up his soul to what is false

and does not swear deceitfully.

5 He will receive blessing from the LORD

and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

6 Such is the generation of those who seek him,

who seek the face of the God of Jacob.

7    Lift up your heads, O gates!

And be lifted up, O ancient doors,

that the King of glory may come in.

8 Who is this King of glory?

The LORD, strong and mighty,

the LORD, mighty in battle!

9 Lift up your heads, O gates!

And lift them up, O ancient doors,

that the King of glory may come in.

10 Who is this King of glory?

The LORD of hosts,

he is the King of glory!

This Sunday...Special Guest Preacher!
Richie!

I am very pleased to announce that this Sunday we will have the honour of having Mr Richard Song preaching Matthew 6:1-18 to us! Richard is a man of character and there is an evident grace from God in his life, and I look forward to sitting under his teaching! I’ve always wondered how he looks so young, even though he is so old! Now I know ;)
