Resources To Help You Read and Study the Word

Books on the Spiritual Disciplines:

The Spiritual Disciplines are also called the means of grace. That is, they are practices which are channels by which God’s grace can flow to us for the purpose of helping us love God and live for him. These include: bible reading, prayer, fellowship, giving, worship, etc.

There are two key books that' i’d draw your attention to in the bookshop on this topic:

  1. Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life by Donald Whitney (longer)

  2. Habits of Grace by David Mathis (shorter)

You can read these books to help you know what you’re meant to be doing and how to do it!

Devotional Books:

Devotionals are books designed to be like a mini sermon preached to you each day. They are usually topical, short, interesting, and cut to the heart.

If you are looking for a devotional book for yourself, or as a gift, let me encourage two (these are in the bookshop also):

  1. Daily Joy: A 365-Day Devotional for Women,

  2. Daily Strength: A 365-Day Devotional for Men

These are short daily devotionals, respectively for women and men, with each entry being under ten minutes in length. They were created with the intention to inspire women and men ‘to engage with God’s word daily, allowing the gospel's truth to transform their lives throughout the year.’

You can also access them in Podcast format for free!
